Did anybody catch Bridging Minds 2008 last night?
It was shown on Arts Central 10pm.
The annual debate held amongst 2 countries; Brunei and Singapore.
Yesterday's motion was, Vanity is Good.
It was a very normal debate.
But with a slight twist.
Each contestants would have to act out their specific points.
The dramatization of the debate made the whole event even more fun to watch.
And i must add, i was rrly leanin towards the Proposition team.
Their acting was fantastic.
And they got their points across quite well.
I actually understood their points and where they were going with their discussion.
I lyke how the guy said, "
go with us!"
har.
I dint have any qualm against the Opposition team tho.
I understood them tryin to bring up their msg on Political Vanity and stuff lyke dat.
But there'z juz sumn about them dat dint make me "go wit them."
So, obviously i was shocked when the results came out.
The opposition won the debate!
My initial reaction?
A huge and loud "
WHAT?!"
har.
I rrly rrly thot the Proposition bagged it.
Guess i was wrong.
No wonder i'm never a judge for anything.
heh.
Oh and a quick research on "Vanity" proved Opposition to deserve the win.
Various online dictionaries actually had negative definitions on Vanity.
"
excessive pride in one's appearance" - www.dictionary.com
Excessive, is a huge word.
So vanity is bad?
I still don't think so.
